PALO IT Convenes “Impact Movement”, a showcase and community event for B Corp Month

Updated: May 3, 2022

To celebrate B Corp month, PALO IT convened the inaugural Impact Movement event. The Impact Movement event, which took place on 30 March 2022, brought together the Singapore B Corp community and champions of sustainability to inspire businesses who are keen to embark on their own journeys toward transformation.

The Impact Movement offered a platform for stakeholders in the impact space to share experiences, showcase impact solutions and co-create innovative ways where businesses can align profits with purpose, no matter what industry, size or market .

We were honoured to have in attendance, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu, representatives from B Lab Singapore, fellow B Corps and the heads of sustainability from across the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The highlight of the day was certainly the sense of community and camaraderie. In his welcoming address, PALO IT Managing Director, Vincent Desclaux, expressed his optimism in the community’s efforts; “In coming together today, we are breaking down the silos which we are in to co-create a better legacy for the future generations to come.”

Prisca Lim, Chief Operating Officer of B Lab Singapore, echoed the sentiment. The B Corp Movement is taking on the immense task of swimming against the currents. At the same time, she acknowledged that being at the forefront of change can feel lonely. It is why, in the face of this immense task of pioneering and catalysing change, “the Singapore B Corp community, the 18 and others that will join, is so important – as we stand on the shoulders of giants”, Prisca shared.

Minister Grace Fu offered her affirmations. She relayed to the audience her recent experience at the COP26 global climate summit, where she observed how it had a different energy compared to past summits as more businesses are now taking the lead in conversations. Here in Singapore, change-seeking businesses are not alone. Minister Fu pointed out that there are synergies between the government’s objectives for sustainability and the B Corp movement. Everyone’s participation and help is needed to get everyone on board.

After the opening addresses, attendees visited product showcases put up by six Singapore B Corps – PALO IT, Cariuma, Speco, Sustenir, Foreword Coffee Roasters, and Golden Sunland – as well as incubating projects in PALO IT’s Innovation Lab. The showcase also gave the audience an insight into the journey to becoming a Certified B Corp as B Corp founders and CEOs shared lessons learnt and impacts created.

B Lab Singapore is grateful to PALO IT for convening and hosting the event, Minister Grace Fu for her support and the B Corps as well as stakeholders in-attendance for their enthusiastic presence, all of which made B Lab Singapore’s first community event such an enjoyable and memorable success.
